INHEMETER is investing in Kenya: bringing Chinese influence

Recently, the economic and trade cooperation between China and Kenya has been deepening. According to the statistics bureau of Kenya, China has surpassed the United Kingdom and the United States to be the largest source of foreign direct investment in Kenya. More and More Chinese companies, including those in Guangdong, have invested in Kenya and built industrial business, bringing not only jobs but also Chinese influence.

In recent years, INHEMETER almost becomes Kenya's number one electricity meter supplier, supplying a huge number of meters, 2.5 million pieces. INHEMETER has occupied 50% of the smart meter market in Kenya in the past two years, which is on account of the remarkable customization features of INHEMETER's smart meters. INHEMETER's customers are usually power and energy companies from Africa with different management needs. In the competition, there is no price war, but to occupy the market through product innovation.

Kenya’s national development plan calls for a newly industrialized middle-income country by 2030. To achieve this development goal, addressing the energy problems, especially the electricity one, is a must. While introducing smart meters, INHEMETER also actively assists the local government in the implementation of smart grid transformation, and responds to the call of the local government to train locally high-quality technical personnel.

So far, there are 396 Chinese companies investing in Kenya, among which 80% are private enterprises and 90% of the employees are local people, providing 127,000 formal jobs.
